A little about us: Whytecliff is a BC Ministry of Education-accredited independent high school for Grades 8–12. Our Langley campus is comfortably small (it feels less like a school and more like an oversized home), with a tight-knit team of 10–11 staff serving up to 52 students. In a calm, caring, and collaborative setting, we work with truly great kids who arrive with a range of diverse learning needs and social-emotional challenges, including anxiety, depression, ASD, dyslexia, and ADHD. Whytecliff is unique. More than just a school, we are one of the few programs in North America to seamlessly integrate education and positive youth development, with a special emphasis on mental health and wellness, social connectedness, and personal growth. Here’s a more in-depth look at what we do: https://www.ourkids.net/private-school-reviews/whytecliff-agile-learning-centres-langley/651 A little about who we’re looking for: We’re looking for a teacher who genuinely thinks outside the box —someone with lots of creative ideas for engaging kids in meaningful art, design, and cross-curricular projects, along with the focus and follow-through to make those ideas happen. Interested in starting a film club or news team? Painting a mural on the side of the building with a small group of kids and weaving it into Arts Education for course credit? Teaching photography, film, music production, or something we haven’t thought of yet? We’d love to hear your ideas. What matters most is your ability to bring small groups of kids together around creative, collaborative, project-based learning that taps into their strengths and interests, makes learning enjoyable, and helps them earn BC curriculum course credit through meaningful work connected to curricular competencies, content, and big ideas. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor of Education or an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and, ideally, valid certification—or eligibility for certification—with the BC Teacher Regulation Branch. Qualified BC or Canadian residents only, please. Equally important, we look for people who are kind, creative, caring, good active listeners, and genuinely love working with young people. We want someone with a positive, engaging presence, an infectious love for their subject, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in kids’ lives. The position is transdisciplinary : teachers often work with youth beyond traditional classroom duties through mentoring, community connections, family communication, and participation in the wider life of the program. Our educational approach is also cross-curricular : teachers work closely with students and colleagues to create engaging projects and learning experiences that connect kids’ interests with more than one subject area.
