BGC WMD: Leaders in Action – Event Lab BGC Weston Mount Dennis serves children and youth in the Weston Mount Dennis and surrounding communities. We provide social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs that foster growth, confidence, and belonging. Our approach to youth development is holistic, with mental health and wellbeing woven into everyday experiences. Through safe, supportive spaces, meaningful relationships, and engaging programming, youth are encouraged to express themselves, build resilience, and develop the skills needed to navigate life’s challenges. Position Overview: Youth Mentor (Event Lab Facilitator) The Youth Mentor is a leadership and facilitation-focused role responsible for delivering structured programming, mentoring youth participants, and supporting the development of leadership, event planning, and workplace readiness skills. This role plays a key part in guiding youth through the creation and execution of two major events, while fostering confidence, teamwork, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Plan, develop, and facilitate workshops for youth ages 13–15 (e.g., leadership, financial literacy, event planning, employment readiness) Lead and support participants within the Leadership-in-Training (LIT) Program Mentor youth in developing leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills Guide youth through the planning and execution of three community events Design and deliver inclusive, engaging, and skill-based programming (arts, recreation, social topics) Review and implement program manuals and resources provided by BGC Canada Integrate R2 Resilience Approach and Respect2Connect frameworks into daily programming Support youth in building confidence and readiness for future employment opportunities Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all times Supervise participants and follow all safety policies and procedures Manage group dynamics and resolve conflicts appropriately Complete administrative tasks (attendance, program plans, reports) accurately and on time Assist with Club-wide initiatives and events Maintain professional relationships with youth, families, staff, and community members Attend all required meetings, training sessions, and briefings Arrive a minimum of 15 minutes prior to each scheduled shift Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience working in a camp or youth program setting (required) Experience working with youth ages 13+ (required) Experience facilitating workshops or structured programming Strong ability to plan, implement, and evaluate engaging programs Experience mentoring youth or supporting leadership development programs (asset) Ability to implement structured frameworks and program materials Skills in leadership, arts, recreation, education, or social programming Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills Ability to engage and manage youth in group settings Current First Aid & CPR-C (mandatory) Police Reference Check within the last 6 months (required prior to start) HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development (asset) Valid Driver’s License (asset) Contract Details Contract Period: June 22, 2026 – August 14, 2026 Mandatory Training: June 22 – June 26, 2026 Hours: 35 hours per week Schedule: Monday to Friday (5 days/week – mandatory) Eligibility Requirement This position is funded through the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must: Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person Be legally entitled to work in Canada 📌 Application Deadline - May 23rd, 2026 Program Overview: Youth Event Lab – Create the Vibe The Youth Event Lab – Create the Vibe Summer Program is a dynamic, event-based leadership program designed for youth ages 13–15. This innovative program combines leadership development, employment readiness, and creative expression through hands-on experience in planning and executing real community events. Participants will take part in a 8 weeks Leadership-in-Training (LIT) model, where they gain practical skills while working collaboratively to design and deliver two youth-led events throughout the summer. Youth will also get and gain experience working with children ages 6-12 years and building on skills they've learnt. Program Description Through a structured and supportive environment, youth will build skills in: Leadership development Financial literacy Employment readiness Event planning and coordination Arts, recreation, and creative expression Social awareness and community engagement Participants will take on active roles in: Planning and organizing events Designing promotional materials Managing event logistics Leading activities and engaging peers The program culminates in two major events: Community Kickback (Launch Event or Youth Pop-Up Market (Entrepreneurship Event) WMD Basketball tournament (Final Celebration) Framework & Approach Programming is guided by BGC Canada’s: R2 Resilience Approach Respect 2 Connect Framework These frameworks are integrated into daily programming to support: Emotional wellbeing Positive relationships Confidence and identity development Resilience and coping skills Mental health support is embedded through: Safe and inclusive spaces Mentorship and daily check-ins Creative expression and reflection Physical activity and wellness

Exigences

Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in camp or youth programming and be between 15 and 30 years of age. Mandatory requirements include First Aid & CPR-C certification and a recent Police Reference Check.
