This position is responsible to clean, tidy, and maintain Club facilities with great care and have an eye for detail in order to provide a safe and healthy workplace. The position must be able to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and be able to take and act on direction. *HOURS:* 20 hrs per week based on facility requirements *Schedule:* 4 hours per day. Hours of work will be scheduled before 9:30 a.m. and/or after 5:00 p.m. *Sample schedules may include:* * 5:30 a.m. ? 9:30 a.m. * 5:00 p.m. ? 9:00 p.m. * 6:00 p.m. ? 10:00 p.m. * 7:00 p.m. ? 11:00 p.m. _Actual hours may vary based on program and operational needs._ _Due to the nature of the Club's business, staff cannot always be confined rigidly to a definite schedule of hours - 'flex' time WILL be required_ *Education:* Secondary School Graduate preferred but not required *Experience: * 1-2 years previous experience as custodian/janitor Working knowledge of industrial equipment & appliances (e.g. Zamboni) and how to maintain Knowledge of safety protocols such as disposal of chemicals and other hazardous items Detail oriented and conscientious Sharp attention to detail, takes direction well, ability to work independently with little to no supervision *Duties* * Carry out cleaning tasks to ensure agency standards are maintained * Ensure cleaning tasks assigned are completed in a thorough and timely manner * Utilize appropriate training to clean up any potentially hazardous materials or contact the appropriate authorities to handle such incidents * Identify appropriate cleaning materials and products to sanitize areas, disinfect and deodorise according to agency standards * Maintains accurate logs and records of areas that have been cleaned and scheduled of regular cleaning * Replenishes supplies in washrooms such as toilet paper, paper towel and hand soap * Regularly empties trash * Follows cleaning routine and schedule as set by supervisor including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, window washing, mirrors, etc.. * Facility opening/closing requirements (de-activate alarm, safety check, etc. * Submit requests for supplies in a timely manner * Ensure any repairs noticed during cleaning are reported to supervisor in a timely manner * Undertake seasonal tasks (e.g. snow removal) * Uses proper signage to indicate wet flooring or other potential hazardous situations * Have essential capabilities in the following: interpersonal skills, memory, attention to detail, follow direction, comprehension, calculating, reading, organizing and innovation. *Physical Demands* * Lifting on heavy items such as tables, chairs, equipment, etc. does require the individual in this position must be in good physical condition and be aware of proper lifting techniques etc., to ensure personal safety * Stamina, good physical condition and strength * Ability to work on feet and lift up to 30lbs *Working Conditions* * Position works within a climate controlled facility, however some tasks will require outdoor exposure to weather elements * Position is required to work with a variety of cleaning chemicals and is responsible for the correct/safe application and storage of such (adherence to MDS requirements, etc.) _The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the incumbent of this job.
