Position: Respiratory Therapist Competition #: 2026-267 (Current Opportunity) Status: Temporary Part-Time (up to 6 months with possible extension) Department: Respiratory Union Association: OPSEU Salary: $38.36 to $53.28/Hour Position Summary Under the Supervision of the Manager of Allied Health and Clinical Services, and as a member of the Respiratory Therapy Team, the Respiratory Therapists provide care as established by the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario and the standards of respiratory care of this hospital. Respiratory Therapists participates in service and hospital-wide activities and programs that model and promote a safe and healthy patient-centered environment and that contribute to quality improvement and risk management initiatives. Respiratory Therapists at Brockville General Hospital also have the opportunity to join the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) working collaboratively with Registered Nurses. Respiratory Therapists are assigned to both in-patient and out-patient duties, with involvement spanning all programs within the organization from Emergency Room coverage to Critical Care, and throughout the acute and post-acute patient journey. The RTs work closely with other allied health members and the full multidisciplinary team. Brockville General Hospital is a medium sized Community Hospital, with a Level 3 ICU, servicing a variety of patient populations including pediatric and geriatric patients. Brockville General Hospital offers ongoing education, to ensure competence and skills are maintained, and best practices are followed for outstanding patient care. Education And Experience Successful completion of recognized post-secondary Respiratory Therapy program Member in good standing with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario Skills And Abilities Behaviour consistent with Hospital Mission, Values and Standards of Performance Knowledge of department, organization and professional standards and relevant legislation; Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA) and Respiratory Therapy Act (RTA) Maintain personal education objectives relevant to the practice and professional portfolio Collaborates with inter-professional team members to identify educational programs for staff and other health care professionals Recognized as clinical experts, actively participating in the education of physicians, nurses and other inter-professional team members related to Respiratory Therapy practice, policies and specialty interventions Participates in team rounds, committees, staff education and clinical care meetings, acting as a resource for the team, when needed Provides education to patients, students and staff, e.g.: individual/group teaching Influences/contributes to patient care through presentations/publications, acting as a role model and assisting others to maintain a high standard of care Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment Identify areas where opportunity for improvement exists within the department and the hospital Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Good attendance and availability required
