The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated part-time, contract (12 months) Research Analyst (RA) to join an innovative program of research focused on improving mental health care for transgender and gender-diverse (TGD) populations. The research program focuses on improving mental health care for transgender and gender-diverse populations through behavioural clinical trials, health services research, implementation science, qualitative and mixed-methods research, and community-engaged scholarship. The program is grounded in close collaboration with clinicians, trainees, and community partners, with the goal of generating research that informs equitable, evidence-based mental health care, health policy, and clinical practice. Reporting to the Clinician Scientist and the Research Manager, the successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, trainees, and scientists within the CAMH Gender Identity Clinic and IMHPR. The RA will support a research study evaluating a gender-affirming Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills group for TGD adults receiving care through the CAMH Gender Identity Clinic. The RA will also contribute to knowledge translation initiatives and the ongoing development of an expanding program of research in transgender and gender-diverse mental health. The position follows a hybrid work model, with in-person activities such as team meetings, participant interviews and diagnostic assessments; and virtual research visits and meetings. RESPONSIBILITIES Leading research study activities such as participant recruitment, screening, informed consent, enrolment, randomization, scheduling, and follow-up. • Conducting standardized diagnostic interviews (e.g., MINI, SCID, etc.) and administering structured clinical interviews and standardized outcome measures. • Conducting qualitative interviews with study participants and contributing to qualitative data analysis. • Managing study databases and maintaining accurate research documentation in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Ethics Board (REB) requirements, and institutional policies. • Preparing and maintaining regulatory documents, including REB applications, amendments, annual renewals, and study documentation. • Monitoring study progress, participant retention, protocol adherence, and data quality. • Coordinating research activities with clinical staff delivering the intervention and assisting with behavioural intervention fidelity monitoring. • Performing quantitative data management and statistical analyses independently, with consultation and guidance from the study team as appropriate. • Assisting with interpretation of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods findings. • Contributing to conference abstracts, scientific presentations, peer-reviewed manuscripts, grant applications, and other knowledge translation activities. • Collaborating with clinicians, scientists, trainees, and community partners involved in the research program. • Supporting additional research activities within the research program, as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field with a combination of one (1) year relevant research experience. • Experience conducting research with human participants is required. • Experience administering structured or semi-structured diagnostic interviews (e.g., MINI, SCID) and standardized clinical assessments is required. • Experience conducting qualitative interviews and qualitative data analysis is required; experience with reflexive thematic analysis is considered an asset. • Experience performing quantitative data management and statistical analyses using software such as R, SPSS, SAS, or Stata is an asset. • Experience using REDCap or similar electronic data capture platforms is required. • Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Research Ethics Board submissions, and clinical research regulations is considered an asset. • Experience in psychotherapy research, behavioural clinical trials, implementation science, mental health services research, or community-engaged research is preferred. • Familiarity working with transgender and gender-diverse communities and a demonstrated commitment to gender-affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally safe research practices is preferred. • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary research team.
