Position Summary Academic Part-time Position The School Of Health & Life Sciences Is Seeking Qualified Professionals To Teach Theory And Lab Courses Part-time In Our Nursing And Affiliated Programs For The Fall (September To December) And/or Winter (January To April) Terms. We Welcome Applications From Qualified Professionals With Expertise In The Health Sciences, Including Registered Nurses With Healthcare Experience, As Well As Individuals With Backgrounds In Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, And Related Disciplines. Candidates Should Have Experience Teaching, Mentoring, Or Supporting Student Learning And Demonstrate Expertise In One Or More Of The Following Subject Areas Human Anatomy and Physiology Human Biology and Biochemistry Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on-site at Conestoga’s Doon campus, located at 299 Doon Valley Drive. Conestoga offers classes Monday to Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Courses are primarily delivered in person in accordance with our academic calendar. Part-time Professors typically teach one to two courses. Courses are approximately three to six hours per week in the classroom for a 14-week term. In your application, please indicate your availability and identify any areas of expertise. Applications will be provided to the hiring team on a weekly schedule. Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. Responsibilities Ensure program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field Design appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement Carry out regularly scheduled instruction according to the format prescribed for the course, including online, classroom, and computer-assisted lab lessons Ensure student awareness of course objectives, instructional approach, and evaluation systems Evaluate student progress/achievement, assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of student work within the assigned course, and maintain records as required Support students in the use of eConestoga, the learning management system (D2L), as well as maintain course materials within this system Create and maintain a positive learning environment which supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds, and learning styles Work in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college Qualifications A PhD in Nursing, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a closely related discipline is required A minimum of five years of experience in nursing, healthcare, biological sciences, biochemistry, or related disciplines Previous adult or post-secondary level teaching experience is an asset Experience with curriculum development is an asset Experience with computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g., D2L) is preferred Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels, including international students and students requiring accommodation, is an asset Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset Compensation is determined using a standardized wage calculation that considers education, relevant industry experience, and teaching experience. Part-Time Professors are paid an hourly rate based on Teaching Contact Hours (up to 6 hours per week). This rate is inclusive of all academic responsibilities, including course preparation, delivery, and evaluation. The posted hourly rate represents an estimated range. Successful candidates will receive an individualized wage calculation at the time of offer.

Exigences
Requires a PhD in Nursing, Health Sciences, Biological Sciences, or a related field with at least five years of professional experience. Previous post-secondary teaching experience and proficiency with educational technologies are considered assets.
