A clean driver’s abstract and CPIC check are required. Some heavy lifting may also be required. This position is part-time with 20-30 hours per week. Job Description: Must have a valid drivers license, cleaning driving record and adhere to all traffic laws and rules. Should be reliable and organized to transport various goods and materials between locations. Responsible for ensuring timely pickups and deliveries in a safe manner Load and unload materials onto the van properly and safely. Ensure that that the van doors are locked correctly. Plan and follow the most efficient routes for pickups and deliveries. Check and maintain the van’s condition and ensure it is safe to operate. Ensure that any vehicle damage or repair needs are clearly communicated to the General Manager and recorded in the daily travel log. Handle emergencies such as accidents and breakdowns according to protocols. Regularly clean and maintain the van’s interior and exterior. Communicate with the office and donors about any delays or changes in schedule. Response to donors’ questions and queries regarding their items in accordance with Soup Kitchen Policy Complete necessary paperwork with accurate and detailed information for all pickup and delivery details and record in driver logbook. Adhere to all driving laws and regulations. Report any suspicious packages to general manger or office. When not on deliveries, can help with the stocking of shelves in the basement ad general maintenance as directed by General Manager or Volunteer Coordinator. Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended period; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending twisting, pulling, and stooping; move, lift, carry, push, pull and place objects weighing less then or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
