Regional Division Head - Medical Biochemistry - Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology

Job Summary Fraser Health is seeking a Regional Division Head, Medical Biochemistry, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. Responsibilities of the Regional Division Head include (but are not limited to): Developing annual operating objectives for the Regional Division; Functioning as the channel of communication to and from the Regional Division to keep members of the Regional Division informed regarding Division objectives, policies, and general activities; Developing, with the members of the Regional Division, standards of clinical practice for the Regional Division, recommending those standards to the Regional Department and ensuring that the Regional Division members work within established standards; Maintain familiarity with the applicable provincial privileging dictionary(s), and participate where applicable, with the BC Medical Quality Initiative Office, in developing standards of clinical practice to inform the provincial privileging dictionary(s); Recommend appropriate Clinical and Procedural Privileges, limitations or applicable conditions, for each Medical Staff appointment, renewal or requested modification within the Division after reviewing requests submitted through provincial privileging dictionary for applicable specialty or subspecialty; Encouraging and facilitating programs for the continuing medical education of Regional Department members; Arranging and chairing Regional Division meetings as required in these Rules; If applicable, working with universities to ensure that education programs and research activities are being sufficiently promoted and supported; Promoting health and wellness amongst Members; Encouraging a healthy, respectful workplace; Investigating and documenting complaints regarding care provided by Members within the Regional Division under the direction of the relevant Regional Department Heads or Program or Regional Medical Directors; Reviewing with the Regional Division and the Regional Department Head and /or Program or Regional Medical Director, the human resource requirements of the Regional Division; Contributing to the search and selection of applicants for vacancies in the Regional Division; Establishing a quality assurance/quality improvement structure and program for the Regional Department, which carries out the functions of review, evaluation, and analysis of the quality of Medical Care and utilization of Fraser Health resources. Additional responsibilities as outlined in organizational policies for Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Program in accordance with Diagnostic Accreditation Program standards. The Regional Division Head is responsible for developing clinical practice standards, managing division objectives, and overseeing quality assurance programs within the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology. They also facilitate continuing medical education, manage human resource requirements, and act as a communication channel for division members.

Candidates must be members of the Medical Staff with Active Category privileges and be actively practicing in Laboratory Medicine, specifically in the Division of Medical Biochemistry. Applicants are required to have leadership experience within the healthcare sector and hold full CMPA and CPSBC licensure.
