Position #: 158746 Expected Start Date: To Be Determined Union: HSAS Facility: Cut Knife Health Centre City/Town: Cut Knife Department: Ambulance - Land Type: Part-time regular FTE: 0.67 Hours of Work: 28 shifts of 8 hours per 8 weeks Relief: No Float: No Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events. and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Human Resources Exemption: No Education * Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute Licenses * Valid Class 4 driver's license Other Education and Training * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) * Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) * International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) Competencies * Verbal communication skills * Conflict resolution skills * Written Communication Skills * Listening skills * Interpersonal skills * Basic - Computer skills Knowledge and Abilities * Ability to work independently and as a member of a team * Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis * Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations * Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking * Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical judgement * Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. * knowledge of legislation and regulations which governs practice * Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions * Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively * Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care Other Information * Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level * Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is the largest employer in Saskatchewan, employing more than 45,000 staff in a dynamic healthcare environment. Requires a Primary Care Paramedic Certificate, a valid Class 4 driver's license, and certifications in CPR, BLS, and ITLS. Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
