Relief: Yes Float: Yes Field Hours: No Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Emergency Medical Technician $29.909 to $36.572 Travel Required: No Job Description: Reporting to the Manager or designate for the area of province they are working, the Emergency Medical Services - EMT/PCP responds to emergency and non-emergency events. and provides assessment, treatment and transportation of the ill or injured persons consistent with The Saskatchewan Ambulance Act and Regulations; Saskatchewan College of Paramedics (SCoP) Clinical Practice Protocols; The Paramedics Act and bylaws; and Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) policies, procedures and work standards. Human Resources Exemption: No Education * Primary Care Paramedic Certificate from an approved educational institute Licenses * Valid Class 4 driver's license Other Education and Training * International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS) * Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS) * Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) Competencies * Conflict resolution skills * Basic - Computer skills * Interpersonal skills * Verbal communication skills * Written Communication Skills * Listening skills Knowledge and Abilities * Familiar with the SK Ministry of Health Ambulance Information System. * Physically able to perform the duties of pre-hospital emergency care * Ability to function effectively in high stress and in emergency situations * Able to safely and consistently lift/load stretcher on a regular basis * Demonstrates the ability to be resourceful and to adapt to changing conditions * Ability to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively * knowledge of legislation and regulations which governs practice * Decision making through the application of knowledge and critical thinking * Ability to work independently and as a member of a team * Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical judgement Other Information * Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics at PCP/EMT level * Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
