We are hiring Relief Workers in Surrey, Delta, Langley, Abbotsford, Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver to support our therapeutic residential programs. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work while gaining meaningful, hands-on experience supporting children and youth with complex needs. Position Summary Reporting to the Relief Manager, the Relief Worker provides direct, day-to-day care and support to children and youth with developmental and mental health needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. You will play a key role in maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive home environment while implementing individualized care and behavioural plans. What You’ll Do Client Care & Support * Provide hands-on support with daily routines, personal care, and life skills * Implement Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) and follow safety protocols * Respond effectively and safely to behavioural escalations * Build positive, supportive relationships with clients Programming & Daily Living * Facilitate recreational, social, and educational activities * Prepare nutritious meals based on dietary needs * Support clients in completing chores and routines Home & Environment * Maintain a clean, safe, and organized home * Complete general housekeeping and minor upkeep Collaboration & Documentation * Work closely with team members and supervisors * Complete daily logs, incident reports, and data tracking * Follow all care plans, protocols, and program expectations Community & Transportation * Transport clients to school, appointments, and activities * Liaise with families and external professionals What You Bring Education & Experience * Minimum Grade 12 (related education is an asset) * Experience supporting children or youth with complex needs preferred * Knowledge of Autism Spectrum Disorder and behavioural approaches is an asset Core Skills * Strong communication and teamwork * Ability to stay calm and effective in crisis situations * Compassionate, patient, and reliable Requirements * Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License (required) * Must be 19 years of age or older * Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority * Criminal Record Clearance (Ministry of Justice & Ministry of Children and Family Development to be completed during onboarding) * Out-of-Country Criminal Record Check (required if lived outside Canada within the last 5 years) * First Aid & CPR Certification (provided in-house) * MANDT Training (provided in-house; must be maintained) Relief Role Expectations * Provide availability for a minimum of 3 shifts per week across at least 2 days * Work across at least 2 programs * Maintain regular weekend availability (minimum 2 weekend shifts/month) * Work a minimum of 5 shifts per month to remain active * Submit availability in advance and accept shifts within stated availability * Actively engage with clients and follow all program protocols at all times * Maintain professionalism, reliability, and accountability on every shift Working Conditions * Location: Lower Mainland therapeutic program homes * Schedule: On-call / relief (days, evenings, overnights, weekends) * Environment: Active, hands-on, team-based Why Join Hollyburn? * Flexible scheduling that fits around your life * Paid training and ongoing development * Opportunity to gain experience across multiple programs * Meaningful work supporting children and youth in your community We thank all candidates for applying, however only those shortlisted will be contacted for interviews.
