Location: Southwood Care Centre Position Type: Part-time Temporary (0.8 FTE) Hours of Work: 8:00 am to 4:15 pm (flexibility required) This line is temporary until approximately October 1, 2027 Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and a graduate of an approved dietetic internship. 2. Registered Dietitian with current membership in the Canadian Dietetic Association and Alberta Registered Dietitians Association. 3. A minimum of three years' experience in Dietetics, preferably within a long-term care facility. 4. Ability to work independently. 5. Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care and service for residents. 6. Mentally and physically able to perform duties as outlined. 7. Ability to function as an effective team member with other staff, residents, families, and the public. 8. Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language. Competencies: 1. Compliance Focus: Promotes compliance with accreditation standards and ethical and legal requirements. Key Responsibilities: 1. Food Service Program Delivery & Nutritional Care * Responsible for the provision of food service programs based on the assessed needs of the current customer population. Services shall include, but are not limited to: * Nutritional assessments and care plans * Therapeutic diets * Nourishments (special and routine) * Five‑week cyclical menu planning * Ethnic foods * Nutritional counseling * Education programs 2. Assessment, Documentation, and Care Planning * Complete InterRAI MDS assessment elements as appropriate for the discipline. * Participate in the review of triggered of RAPS and development of the resident care plan consistent with the Collaborative Care Model. * Documents assessments, interventions, and evaluations/outcomes as required on the resident’s health care record. 3. Quality Assurance, Consultation, & Community Resources * Evaluates the services provided by the Food Services Department, including but not limited to: * Efficiency of the meal service and delivery * Quality of food provided * Maintains an awareness of community resource/services and facilitates access to such services as required by facility customers. * Functions as a consultant within all Intercare facilities as required. 4. Education & Organizational Participation * Works with Education Services in planning, organizing, and implementing in‑service education for Food Service staff. * Participates in project teams, committees, and meetings as required and is responsible for reading minutes and memorandums provided to their team 5. Teamwork & Collaboration * Demonstrates respect to all customers, by working with them in a calm, courteous manner. * Cooperates and willingly assists other staff and facility customers. * Performs all duties in accordance with the written policies and procedures of the Employer, the facility and the Therapeutic Services Department. * Accepts responsibility for the performance results of their work teams and works in partnership with individuals and groups of employees (teams) to improve services for our customers. * Demonstrates effective team behaviors by: * Identifying opportunities for improvement and suggesting workable solutions * Supporting colleagues to foster individual and team success * Maintaining open-minded, patient, and positive communication * Choosing a positive growth-oriented attitude by viewing challenges as opportunities to learn and improve. * Remain flexible and in a constant state of readiness to help solve issues * Keeping communication open, constructive, and respectful * Coaching others to support their performance success * Contributing to a positive team environment by maintaining a good sense of humor. 6. Health & Safety * Understand and adhere to all organizational health and safety responsibilities as outlined in the corporate Health and Safety policy. * Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains the work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition. * Reports unsafe, hazardous working conditions and/or any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate person/department. * Participate in required health and safety training and initiatives to maintain compliance and promote workplace safety. * Understand and adheres to fire responsibilities as outlined in the Corporate Fire Response Manual. 8. Other Duties * Perform other duties as assigned.
