It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are 30 Medical Laboratory Technologists, and 25 Medical Laboratory Assistants employed in various disciplines. Medical Laboratory Assistants perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine laboratory tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required. This is a Relief Part Time (0.75) opportunity until the return of the incumbent. Shifts of work will be scheduled rotating days, evenings and nights. The Medical Laboratory Assistant is responsible for collecting blood and specimen samples from patients and preparing them for analysis. They also perform routine laboratory tests, operate equipment, and manage data entry within the Laboratory Information Systems.

The candidate should be a reliable, flexible, and motivated individual with a passion for Medical Laboratory Science. Experience in a fast-paced laboratory environment is desired for this relief part-time position.
