Position Information**:**
Part-time support opportunity (classification): Casual
Hourly rate: $31.00
Hours: up to 15 hours per week, may increase up to 24 hours per week based on operational needs
Reporting To: Director, Program Development and Quality
Department: Professional and Part-Time Learning
Campus Location: Oshawa - This is a fully on-campus position

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director of Program Development and Quality, the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Project Coordinator role is to track the progress and receipt of deliverables for a long-term, multi-phase project. The incumbent will achieve this by maintaining timelines, status reports, as well as following up with internal stakeholders and contract part-time faculty. The incumbent is responsible for creating sub deadlines and a suggested order of tasks in order to achieve the deliverables. The incumbent is responsible for scheduling project status update meetings with internal stakeholders such as the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL), Professional and Part-Time Learning (PPL), Faculty of Social and Community Services (SCS), Faculty of Health Sciences (HS) and Transfer Services. The incumbent takes minutes in those meetings and circulates them to relevant stakeholders. The incumbent monitors the progress of part-time faculty deliverables via email communications such as returning signed contracts, completing training modules and developing Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) assessments. Further the incumbent tracks this task completion through a shared spreadsheet in order for the Director to schedule payment. The incumbent will reflect on the project progress and collaborate with the Director to generate results reports and presentations.

A critical component of this role is to proactively identify when progress is off-track. The incumbent is expected to identify possible solutions, weigh the relative risks of delay and use judgement to determine when to escalate concerns to the Director.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a 2-year diploma or degree in Office administration, event planning, project management.
  • A minimum of 1.5-years of work experience gained while working in a professional setting on a long-term project requiring time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and use judgement to escalate concerns.
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing as required to effectively follow up on task completion.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as working effectively in a team.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced academic environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
