Position Summary
At the Calgary Stampede, our Baristas are more than coffee makers — they are hosts, connectors, and experience creators.
Based at Stampede Perk in the BMO Centre, this role is centered on delivering a warm, engaging, and seamless guest experience while crafting high-quality coffee and beverages. The ideal candidate brings genuine energy, attention to detail, and a passion for making people feel welcome.
Responsibilities
Guest Experience and Hospitality (Primary Focus)
- Create a warm, welcoming environment by engaging guests with genuine, friendly service
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize interactions to elevate the overall experience
- Confidently guide guests through the menu, highlighting features and recommendations
- Handle guest concerns with care, professionalism, and a solution-focused mindset
Coffee and Beverage Craft
- Prepare espresso-based and specialty beverages with consistency and care
- Maintain strong knowledge of coffee, brewing techniques, and product offerings
- Take pride in presentation, ensuring every drink meets quality standards
Operational Excellence
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting workspace at all times
- Follow food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures consistently
- Support inventory management, restocking, and daily setup/teardown
Team and Environment
- Work collaboratively to maintain smooth, efficient service during peak periods and events
- Contribute to a positive team culture grounded in respect and accountability
- Support onboarding and training of new team members when needed
Qualifications
We are looking for individuals who are hospitality-driven first, with strong coffee skills to support the experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in a café, coffeehouse, or hospitality environment
- Experience preparing espresso-based beverages
- Strong guest service mindset with excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-volume environments
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive
- Experience with POS systems and cash handling
- Event or high-traffic service experience is an asset
