The Sport and Recreation Branch is looking for team players that are outgoing, personable, energetic and knowledgeable. We are seeking Group Fitness instructors that have a passion for providing members with an amazing experience at Recreation Centres across the City. If you are a fully qualified Strength & Conditioning, Cycle, Older Adult or Pre/Postnatal instructor and want to share your passion with City of Edmonton members, then this is the position for you! What will you do? Plan and instruct exceptional Group Fitness classes that are safe and effective, providing coaching, feedback, modifications, cueing and encouragement Provide classes that are progressive, challenging and can adapt to the diverse needs of participants Create a fun, welcoming, and motivating environment Contribute to the City's Group Fitness Community by communicating in a positive, productive and professional manner Substitute classes at various City of Edmonton facilities Maintain all mandatory education certifications and attend professional development workshops as needed Record class statistics and relay information/feedback about classes to Group Fitness Coordinators Understand, and follow all policies, procedures, and standards Other duties as required Completion of a fitness instructor certification (Fitness Alberta, Canfitpro, YMCA, or equivalent) Cycle: Completion of Spin or Cycle instructor certification is required Older Adult: Completion of an Older Adult instructor certification is required PrePost-Natal: Completion of a Pre/Post-Natal fitness instructor certification is required A minimum of 1 year of related experience instructing adults and youth (ages 13+) Assets: Additional Group Fitness/Exercise Certifications Skills required for success: Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership skills Enthusiasm and energy to keep up with the current fitness trends and get adults motivated and moving Ability to safely teach a variety of skill levels within one class Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (https://bit.ly/4brRrXm) Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion Demonstrate customer service excellence Experience working with computers and Google Applications is an asset Conditions of Employment: Valid Intermediate First Aid, CPR C and AED Certification is required Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton The City of Edmonton values applicants with a diverse range of skills, experiences and competencies, and encourages you to apply.
