FRACTIONAL HR BUSINESS PARTNER Location: Edmonton, AB (Local / Hybrid) Position Type: Fractional / Part-Time (1–2 Year Engagement) Are you an established HR consultant or senior practitioner who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments? We are seeking a seasoned, hands-on Fractional HR Business Partner to support a dynamic, multi-entity group of companies spanning construction, trades, land development, and health/wellness clinics. Reporting directly to the group CFO, you will own operational HR, from candidate screening and onboarding to navigating sensitive employee relations and off boardings, ensuring total legislative compliance while keeping business moving forward. What You’ll Do Sourcing & Screening: Draft job ads, conduct initial screening calls, and deliver vetted candidate shortlists directly to hiring managers. Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage new-hire paperwork, coordinate tech setups with IT, and execute terminations in strict compliance with Alberta Employment Standards. Operational Coaching: Advise line managers on performance issues, sit in on difficult employee discussions, and serve as an objective, steady voice. Internal Mentorship: Guide junior internal coordinators managing crew and subcontractor onboarding within specific divisions. Foundation Building: Help streamline employee handbooks, job descriptions, and core HR procedures across entities. What You Bring 7+ Years of HR Experience: Deep generalist, operational, or consulting background, ideally within trades, construction, or multi-entity business environments. Legislative Expertise: Strong, practical working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, offboarding management, and risk mitigation. Professional Credentials: CPHR designation or equivalent senior-level operational experience. Strong Executive Presence: High emotional intelligence, objective decision-making, and the confidence to hold firm boundaries with senior leadership. True Fractional Mindset: Local presence required for on-site meetings, key performance discussions, and off boardings. Engagement Details & Compensation Time Commitment: Flexible, fractional demand, averaging 10 to 30 hours per month, scaling with active recruitment pushes, new company onboarding, and operational needs. Compensation: Competitive hourly billable rate, commensurate with senior HR consulting experience and operational expertise. Billed on a monthly invoice basis.
