Status: Casual This is a casual position. As such, there is no specific or guaranteed schedule associated with the position. Shifts are offered on an as-needed basis, in accordance with operational requirements and the applicable Collective Agreement. Employees may be contacted to fill available shifts based on their availability and operational needs. Salary Range: $33.46 - $35.31 Schedule: Various Location: Coquitlam, BC Position Summary: Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Rehab Worker is responsible for the delivery of gender specific, trauma- informed care for people who may have or have experienced homelessness; severe addictions, mental illness, trauma, family, cultural and / or community disconnection, involvement with the criminal justice, physical health and behavioral issues. The Rehab Worker will use graduated and structured client-centered interventions to help clients with transition to living in the community, integrating the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation, harm reduction, motivational enhancement, a strength-based framework, gender centered relational care, trauma-informed care and other evidence-based best practices that improve clients’ ability to function in all aspects of life. Job Qualifications * Required Qualifications * Diploma in Community Social Service * Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work * Ability to obtain the following upon hire: * Certificates in First Aid + CPR * WHMIS * Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance * TB Clearance (done within past 6 months) * Foodsafe Knowledge and Abilities * Ability to work with people with a mental illness. * Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. * Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. * Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others. * Ability to operate related equipment. * Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients. * Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients. * Ability and willingness to understand and work with adults who have been found not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder. * Knowledge of the criminal justice system. * Life skills training and experience. * Good organizational and leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups.
