Independent Director - Board of Directors Lakeland is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization with operating companies in electricity distribution, power generation, fibre internet and telecom services, and software/technology solutions. Our priorities include strong governance, safety, customer and community service, innovation, and responsible growth. Role Overview: Lakeland Holding Ltd., operating out of Muskoka, is seeking an Independent Director to join its Board. The successful candidate will contribute to Board and committee discussions and provide strategic advice to the Lakeland group of companies. Key Responsibilities: Act as an engaged and independent member of the Lakeland Holding Ltd. Board of Directors. Participate in Board and committee meetings, with approximately 12 meetings per year held in Bracebridge and/or virtually. Provide strategic guidance and sound governance oversight across the Lakeland group of companies. Contribute business, financial, technology, HR, safety, labour relations, environmental, and/or industry expertise to support informed decision-making. Champion Lakeland’s values, including integrity, accountability, safety, community impact, and long-term sustainability. Support the continued evolution of Lakeland’s technology-focused companies as they grow in new and greenfield markets. Qualifications: CPA/CA designation strongly preferred. Experience in accounting and audit would be considered a significant asset. Senior business, governance, financial, or executive leadership experience, ideally in a growth-oriented or complex operating environment. Strong financial literacy, including the ability to review financial statements, budgets, risk assessments, audit findings, and strategic plans. Previous Board, Audit Committee, or governance experience is preferred. Demonstrated independence of judgment, sound decision-making, discretion, and a strong commitment to good governance. Experience in the energy, utilities, broadband, technology, or related sectors would be considered an asset. Knowledge or experience in human resources, labour relations, occupational health and safety, environmental matters, regulatory affairs, or public policy would be beneficial.
