Job Description The host/hostess is responsible for assisting patients with meals including meal selection, service and retrieval, in accordance with the patient’s dietary needs/restrictions. You will assist patients with making appropriate daily menu selections. You will prepare, assemble and deliver patient meal trays and snacks. You will calculate modified diets/fluid restrictions, calories, etc. You will also perform various kitchen duties including sanitation, set-up and completing temperature logs and use an automated tablet to record and transfer meal selections to computer. What must you have? Completion of High School Education or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Current and valid Food Safety Proton Certificate from Public Health. Minimum of 1 year experience as a host/hostess. What else do you bring? Demonstrates knowledge of basic diet information. Good command of the English language, including reading, writing and verbal skills. Ability to work productively and effectively in a fast paced environment. Demonstrates excellent customer service. Computer literacy in a Windows environment. Proven attendance record. Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all. Ability to perform the essential duties of the job. Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others and demonstrates behaviours consistent with Mackenzie Health’s Commitment to Caring.
