Term of App't: August - December 2026 / January - April 2027 (approx. 5.5 hours/week) Start date: Late August 2026 (in order to prep) Location: Dawson Creek or Fort St John, BC Reporting to: Associate Dean of Academic & Vocational Programs Salary $50.07 - $56.75/hr., depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay. Staff in this division have the option to contribute to the College Pension Plan, with standard contributions matched by the Employer Description NLC's Early Childhood Education and Care Diploma students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work with young children and their families in diverse early learning settings in British Columbia. Students develop skills through courses designed to integrate academic and practical experiences. http://www.nlc.bc.ca/Programs/All-Programs-Alphabetical/Early-Childhood-Education-and-Care-Diploma NLC Requires a Temporary Part-time Instructor To Deliver The Following Courses By Video-conference From Either The Dawson Creek Or Fort St John Campus HDEC 102 – Health, Safety, and Nutrition This course examines methods of sound health, safety, and nutrition practices in Human Services and Education settings that involve the care and education of children from birth to eighteen years of age. Particular attention is given to the promotion and modeling of a healthy, safe environment through management and prevention of adverse situations. HDEC 103 – Guiding and Caring This course prepares students to guide children's behavior through caring, positive, and constructive practice that facilitates the development of self-esteem and social competency. Emphasis is placed on understanding how development affects behavior and the influence of other relevant factors (e.g. culture, environment, and children's needs). Prevention and intervention strategies are explored as well as the professional's role in guidance. NOTE: Classes are scheduled to take place between 8:45 - 11:40am. Travel between campuses will be required. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Early Care and Learning, with extensive related work experience. Instructional experience in a comparable or related post-secondary program 3 years' experience working in a licensed Early Care and Learning Centre Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) Diploma (or equivalent) with Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Educator Certification from the BC ECE Registry (or proof of eligibility for certification). Working knowledge of the BC Early Learning Framework Current and valid driver's license, minimum of Class 7N. Excellent communication and networking skills A commitment to engaging diverse learners through various forms of delivery (e.g., face-to-face, online - Desire2Learn, web-conferencing, etc.) Preferred Master's Degree in Early Care and Learning, or in a closely related field Working knowledge of the BC Education Plan Working knowledge of Child Care Licensing legislation, and the role of the BC Ministry of Education and Child Care with the ECE Registry Membership in the Early Childhood Educators of BC BC Campus Facilitating Online Learning (FLO) workshop (or equivalent) Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students; and Experience in multiple delivery models, including face-to-face, videoconference, and online.
