Under SLFNHA’s Developmental Services, the SLFNHA Aide - Community Assistant, DS (Keewaywin) will support all health services delivered by SLFNHA and the administrative duties of the “Community Health Hub”. This would include the maintenance and management of the building, arranging transportation to and from airport for staff, support booking of clients, providing support to individual clients and families by follow-up, monitoring and carrying out services as directed by SLFNHA Health Care Professional staff. Who can apply: Persons living in community year round and those of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (s. 16(1) CHRA) The Aide - Community Assistant, DS will be accountable to the Developmental Services Manager - Clinical and Coordinator - Community for mentorship and day to day support. Hourly Pay Range: $28.197 - $37.874 Position Type: Casual Posting Type: This is a new vacancy Qualifications: * Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment). * Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset. * Equivalent to partial high school education. The person can read and write so as to communicate easily, and/or count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. * One year of experience working with health or education providers. * Professional integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. * Excellent organizational and scheduling skills. * Familiar with the use of popular software such as MS Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) and skilled at use of internet-based tools and willingness to learn SLFNHA scheduling and ordering systems. * Willingness to share knowledge and culture of First Nations people and specifically the respective community. * Willingness to speak up on the health and mental health priorities of your community. * A team player who is able to work independently with minimal supervision. * Knowledge of Anishinabe language an asset. * Valid G Drivers License * Ability to perform the job on a regular basis Roles and Responsibilities: * To organize pick up/drop off of staff at the airport * Organize and coordinate bookings of the “Community Health Hub”, key management * Cleaning and maintenance of building (following LOA with community) * Ensure supplies are ordered through SLFNHA and maintenance requested through community * Access and utilize Wellsky travel coordination and Mustimuhw community health record systems * To support and carry out therapy plans for clients * To monitor progress and report appropriately through documentation or consultation * To support the identification of new clients and make referrals * To assist with the coordination of clinics and home visits for visiting professionals * On job training and service support will be provided * Other duties as assigned Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority focuses on hiring Indigenous employees whenever possible.
