Afterschool Care Worker

RESPONSIBLE ADULT WORKER Job Summary: The Responsible Adult assists in providing age-appropriate activities for children in the childcare setting. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 1. General a. Assists in the planning of developmentally appropriate activities and experiences for the children. b. Oversees and/or prepares nutritious snacks and/or lunch breaks. c. Maintain open and positive communication with parents. d. Follow all licensing and Summit Community Services Society policies. e. Maintain confidentiality guidelines. f. Contributes to ensuring all programs are innovated, positive and fun. g. Promotes health and hygiene, to prevent the spread of illness, by following best practices for hand washing, food handling and by implementing cleaning routines including the sanitization of toys, kitchen and other surfaces. h. Assist the Daycare manager with maintenance of the facility. i. Ongoing professional development. j. Inform manager of any issues or problems that may arise with the children. Education, Training, and Experience: • Responsible Adult Certificate • Valid Food Safe Certificate • Criminal Record Check for Working with Vulnerable Adults and Children. The worker assists in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities for children while ensuring a safe, clean, and nutritious environment. They are also responsible for maintaining positive communication with parents and assisting the daycare manager with facility maintenance.

Candidates must hold a Responsible Adult Certificate and a valid Food Safe Certificate. A criminal record check for working with vulnerable adults and children is also required.
