Job Title Athletic Therapy Clinical Practicum Coordinator Job Type Flexible Union MRSA Salary Grade Flexible / Casual Classification (Salary Grade) SAD04 Administrative Services IV (Salary Grade 17) Hybrid Work This position is ineligible Position End Date 8/31/2027 Location MRU Main Campus - Calgary, AB T3E 6K6 CA (Primary) About This Position About the Role Working within the Department of Health and Physical Education, this is a flexible position whose work schedule is variable and may include an irregular schedule of not less than three (3) hours per shift and up to thirty-five (35) hours per week. The Athletic Therapy Clinical Practicum Coordinator will oversee the 3rd year athletic therapy students (n~30) in their practicum placements and establish a working relationship with the practicum agency clinical educators (PACEs) (n~30). Responsibilities Practicum Conflict Resolution & Academic Support (35%) Serve as the primary point of contact for students on complex or challenging field and clinical practicum matters. Facilitate and resolve issues or conflicts between students, clinical educators (PACEs), and coaching staff using advanced problem-solving and professional standards. Liaise with the HPED Practicum Advisor and consult with the AT Program Coordinator to address challenges and advise on solutions. Curricuum Alignment & Professional Development (35%) Facilitate and lead quarterly practicum/instructor meetings to review curriculum, address conflicts, and plan program initiatives. Lead student practicum orientation meetings each semester. Design and deliver ongoing education and professional development for new and returning PACEs to align clinical training with degree standards. Student Placement & Skill Assessment (15%) Liaise with the EMAT instructor to evaluate incoming student skill levels and ensure balanced site placements. Oversee initial student placements, plan and participate in the annual Student Practicum Draft Day, and re-assign students when necessary. Site & Partnership Development (15%) Develop and build relationships with prospective PACEs and organizations to expand practicum opportunities. Strengthen ongoing relationships with existing PACEs to ensure collegial satisfaction and high-quality learning environments. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Three or Four Year Bachelor Degree or Equivalent - CAT(C) required. Two to three years experience in a related field is required. Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing.
