POSTING: HEU STATUS: Casual WORK AREA: Central City Lodge EFFECTIVE DATE: To be Confirmed HOURS: 0800-1600 (as needed) SALARY: Grid 21 / $31.19 hourly About Providence Living: Providence Living is a non-profit, Catholic-sponsored health care organization focused on re-imagining seniors' care through long-term care, assisted living, housing, and community services. We empower seniors, especially those living with dementia, to make choices that enhance their quality of life. Position Overview: Under the direction of the Manager - Care Services, performs a range of clerical duties relating to the operation of a resident care area, such as maintaining resident records and supplies inventory, typing and reception duties. WHAT YOU WILL DO Key Responsibilities: * Prepare and complete documentation for resident admissions, discharges, transfers, or deaths, and notify appropriate staff of room changes. * Set up, maintain, and update resident charts, recording vital information (e.g., weight, temperature, pulse, lab results) and attaching relevant documents. * Enter, update, and manage resident care information using both manual and computer systems. * Handle Resident Care mail, replenish office supplies, and maintain office organization, including bulletin boards and reference materials. * Complete requisitions for treatments and diagnostic procedures, and arrange appointments, transportation, and escorts. * Communicate resident dietary needs to Food Services and ensure accurate data transmission. * Maintain and update the daily census for resident care floors. * Manage inventory control of medical supplies in consultation with the Manager - Care Services, including order placement, deliveries, and supplier liaison. * Issue safety devices (e.g., name bands, I.D.) for confused residents. * Maintain resident medical cards and medical number lists in coordination with the Accounting Clerk. * Arrange services such as controlled cigarette distribution, dry cleaning of residents’ clothing, electric razor maintenance, and personal hygiene needs. * Attend meetings, committees, and professional development activities, including quality assurance programs, in-service training, and conferences as required. WHAT YOU BRING QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training, and Experience * Grade 12, graduation from an approved Unit Clerk program plus one years recent related experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Skills and Abilities * Strong knowledge of medical terminology. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. * Ability to work effectively with others and collaborate as part of a team. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks. * Capable of operating related equipment efficiently. * Physically able to perform the duties of the position.
